Looking at setting a home-theater system and need advice on receivers - i'm not into heavy metal, just light instrumental, jazz and classical / pop vocals, moderate sized rooms. But would like to buy good quality and just something that "will do"...
Looking for sound adivce... Thanks! |

What is your price range?
Is HDMI important to your home theater? If so how many inputs do you need? That's the kind of info we need for starters to give you "sound advice" |

Check out Andrew Robinson`s review of the Yamaha RX - V861 receiver in AVREV.COM. Excellent receiver, good power and features. Also, the Onkyo TX - SR805 receiver. 3 HDMI inputs, 1.3a, good power. Both at the max of your price range, but my two choices for you to review. I would start here.

Well for starters it only has 2 HDMI inputs (you said you needed at least 3) & since it's been out almost a year and a half it's probably HDMI 1.1.
I see you can get what was originally a $3500 receiver for around $1000 but receiver tech has advanced a lot in the last year an a half. There are some good new receivers out there that I personally would consider before buying last years closeouts I just finished a search for my own receiver but I was looking in the $1500-$2000 range, I could give you a few suggestions in that price range!
