I have been pretty critical of DirecTV recently for good reason (bad service calls, bad phone calls, poor quality of DVRs etc...)
I will say upon them upgrading all of my HD TiVos (that I spent upwards of $1000 on back in the day) to new units - helps keep me a happy customer. It doesn't speak to the programming costs but not having to spend to get new DVRs helps.

The logistics of programming my systems for the new HD DVRs has left me with 4 units just sitting there doing nothing.
I need to have three remotes reprogramed to make this work. I am not sure DirecTV knows how complicated this is for people with integrated systems. I have an installer coming soon. Christmas time is ALWAYS tough to get attention from your installer as there is always pressure to finish a house or two before the holidays.

Well how did the transition go?
Do you miss the TIVO interface or do you like the HR20's interface? More importantly how are you liking all those HD channels? I'm fast becoming an HD snob, I get ticked off if a show I want to watch is in SD!! |

I only have one of the 4 HR20s working.
My theater is getting ripped apart to replace my Meridian with a new JVC projector and DVDO VP50pro, Classe electronics and the HR20. j

I agree with you, SD is almost unbearable. That's what's great about the HD DVR, you can find your movies or shows on an HD channel (even if it's 3:00am) and record it to watch later and only watch HD programming. You do have to expand the hard drive if all of your recording is HD, it fills up fast!

I still don't have most of my DVRs installed to replace my TiVos thus I am not getting ALL the HD I signed up for.
The delay is based around getting an installation crew out here to plug things in and more importantly redo the remotes.
