Does a video processor work if the signal is already 1080p?
I see all these new high-def players from Toshiba with Silicon Optic and DVDO processors in them, but if you are playing a disc that is already 1080p, does the processor need to do anything or are the processors just for upconverting 480i and 480p to high-def?

Most good video processors will "pass through" 1080p signal if you are already rocking at that level.
The advantage for a VP in a 1080p system is the ease of switching HDMI. This is where a DVDO VP50 comes in.
