This discussion in the review of the CMS is bewildering. The reviewer writes:
"I found I could adjust the colors almost exactly to the industry specifications, but then found the color to be severely under-saturated. Increasing the color control to get back the saturation resulted in weird-looking skin tones, so I reverted back to the factory settings in the CMS menu." To begin, how could the color be both at "industry specifications" AND "severely under-saturated"? These are mutually exclusive. I have extensive experience with the 20K's CMS and it works flawlessly. It allows full control over the saturation, hue, and brightness of RGBCYM. Since the review is so vague about just what he did and the results he got, all I can do is speculate. If one used the Value control in the CMS to adjust saturation, then you could get the colors lined up on the CMS chart, but they would appear dull and lifeless, which is roughly similar to what he describes. Instead, use the Saturation and Hue controls to get the colors adjusted to their industry specified xy points and leave the Value and Color controls alone. As the reviewer points out, the color decoder is nearly perfect, and this is what the Value control adjusts. |

Hey Tom,
Kevin Miller, the reviewer, posts on here frequently. You can IM him directly and i bet he can explain why he wrote what he did. That is what makes this forum so cool. The fact you can interact with the many of the AVRev reviewers. |
